Nottingham’s tram network is leading the way across the country for customer satisfaction, an independent passenger survey has revealed.
In a report published on Tuesday (May 24) by the nationally respected Transport Focus organisation, NET scored an impressive 98 per cent satisfaction rating with customers – outstripping the performance of other UK tram networks.
NET’s General Manager, Paul Robinson said: “This is fantastic news and a real boost for our staff who, day-in day-out, provide an excellent service to our customers.
“What the survey tells us is that people clearly love what we offer – a service built around reliability, fast journey times, value for money, friendly staff, clean, easy-to-access trams and excellent tram stops with free park and rides sites.”
The in-depth study was conducted last autumn alongside similar surveys in Sheffield, the West Midlands, Manchester, Edinburgh and Blackpool, and the findings were being unveiled at a special industry briefing event in Manchester.
Mr Robinson added: “To come out ahead of other networks shows how well we’re doing but to get this sort of feedback only months after the launch of the expanded network, which more than doubled the size of our tram system, is nothing short of superb.
“We have been through a period of major change and yet our satisfaction rating has increased from our 2014 figures. We’re clearly demonstrating just what a first-class service we provide here in Nottingham.
“The results do, of course, set the bar very high and we are in no way going to become complacent. We know we have to keep evolving and improving and we are continually assessing our performance and service levels in order to meet customer demands.”
Nottingham City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Growth and Transport, Councillor Nick McDonald, said: “I always thought we had the best tram system in the country, so I’m really pleased but not surprised to have it confirmed by its passengers through an independent national survey. We hold NET’s operator to very high standards and they deliver by making sure it’s reliable, fast and frequent and so easy for everyone to use.
“NET is clearly a cut above other UK tram systems and plays a significant part in Nottingham’s excellent integrated public transport network which is the envy of other cities. We’re proud of our fantastic tram network and delighted that the people who use it are so satisfied with the service it provides.”
